During the week, I was thinking about ‘Adaptive Thinking’ 💭 🤔 ? From my perspective, it is the most powerful skill to develop in order to find successful outcomes in a challenging environment.
Do you remember, we have always been told that good thinking is the result of reading books? Although, there is no doubt that books do carry tons of learning and wisdom from various walks of life but do leave certain blind spots. That’s the precise reason you can't solely rely on them, especially when you are dealing with unexpected or dynamically developing situations. This is one of the reasons, why I am a great fan of OODA Loop ( Observe, Orient, Decide & Act concept).
You have to develop an ‘adaptive thinking’ module to survive.
So what is adaptive thinking ?- It is the ability to recognize unexpected situations, quickly consider various possible responses, and decide on the best one. Simply saying- it is the ability to be logical at high speed. In other words, it represents your speed of decision wherein you perform well at the highest levels, by having the ability not only to think well but to think flexibly and quickly.
There are few primary components of adaptive thinking and it requires a deliberate action to develop in one’s personality. However, the biggest hurdle which prevents you from having a good response is not allowing your mind to wander. If I have to say its essence, then it would be this -👇
Employing the power of adaptive thinking requires work and open-mindedness.
To become prolific in your adaptive thinking, you need to acquire certain components of it and put a few processes in place, like ‘Establishing a Negative Visualization Routine, Deep Work Sprints, and Exercising Your Divergent Thinking Muscle’ for achieving the desired outcomes.
Are you curious to know about the followings -
How does establishing a ‘Negative Visualization Routine’ will help?
What should be my ‘Adaptive thinking strategy’ during unexpected or dynamic situations?
Then rest assured you have come to the right place/page. You can certainly develop an upper edge by developing adaptive thinking which is not only about improving it but also putting a plan to further foster our adaptive thinking skills.
The skills that make a professional successful are not merely based on how well they know the information in textbooks, instead, they couple their pre-requisite knowledge with their own experiences to handle unexpected and dynamic situations.
In case, if you want to know the processes and methodology to develop your own ‘adaptive thinking’ then you can read my detailed article - READ IT HERE( Just tap on the embedded link).
This is what I have been thinking 💭:-
To my mind, ‘cataloguing the experiences’ and setting up a routine practice of indulging in ‘deep focused interactive sessions’, which are solely based on sharing practical experiences of handling specific situation(s), is one of the ideal & fastest way to learn and develop adaptive thinking.
And, I did find a piece of evidence for the same. Do not forget to read the full article.
Take good care & enjoy reading this week's dose of ‘Mindful Productivity & Cerebral Happiness’.
