Hello Everyone, today I was not feeling well and repeatedly contemplating about skipping this week RETAZO. But then â Just Showing Upâ when you are not at your 100% is the key differentiator between âaverageâ and âexceptionalâ outcomes. So here I am with another actionable insight :-
I do hear people talk about âself awarenessâ and there is plenty of evidence that it's worth expanding your self-awareness. There is no denying that people with more self-awareness have greater well-being, stronger relationships, a clearer sense of purpose, better, self-acceptance, and are overall happier.
And of course, we all know that introspection is one of the best ways to expand our self-awareness. The more time we invest in reflecting on our thoughts and emotions, the more self-awareness we will have. And that the most common perspection we haveâŚâŚ..Do I sound Right?
Well, as often when it comes to psychology, the answer is not that simple. Researchers have conducted studies showing that introspection can lead to many unintended consequences. This is called the introspection trap.
As someone who journals regularly, I was surprised to learn about the introspection trap. Beyond self-awareness, introspection can also impact our well-being. We can end up overthinking everything and making ourselves anxious instead of productively exploring potential paths forward.
In this edition, I hope you will enjoy learning all about it â how it works, why it happens, and what we can do about it. To learn more about - âthe introspection trap..?â click here.
Take good care & enjoy reading your weekly dose of cerebral happiness! And if you liked it then do not hesitate
